Real talk though has anyone else just thrown away a whole Tupperware container bc you left food in there for way too long and now you’re afraid to open it?

All of you are so valid

FYI, that is generally speaking a safe protocol. Couple of notes. Fungi and bacteria are the first lifeforms discovered to eat plastic. They both use a technique of creating biofilms on and in things to establish colonies; even bacterial and fungi that don’t eat plastic will burrow into it. Visual inspection is not generally good enough to preclude fungal “roots” in plastic. Though if the plastic has separated (forming like a bubble or a peeling away film) then microbials have almost certainly established “roots” in the material. The metabolism of microorganisms denatures plastic even if they don’t eat it; this produces toxic biproducts similar to burning plastic. If something has grown in the tupperwear from it being left along in the wet and the dark with a growth medium for who knows how long then opening it is a bad idea. That will almost certainly aerosolize spores or bacteria that have had long enough time and sufficiently isolated conditions to evolve their own special adaptations. “Cleaning” and reusing the tupperwear is ill-advised in that case as you’d need a lab to guarentee the plastic isn’t compromised and playing host to some nasty biofilm that is resilient against typical cleaning practices, and the plastic itself likely is coming apart in a way that will perpetuate toxicity–low grade at best– even if you did manage to santize the surfaces. Best case scenario, you’re eating microplastic and the tupperwear is shedding as it breaks down over years. It ain’t worth it.

^^^^^^

@venomtots what used to be a random post with no real direction is now actually validating and educational,

I already feel so much better about myself and all the Tupperware bowls I’ve sacrificed

It’s either death by bacteria or wrath of my mum

@idlnmclean would using glass or ceramic containers for leftovers be safer?

I cannot put into words how much I Fucking Loathe the fact that when you search something on youtube now it will randomly intersperse blocks of “people also watched” and “for you” into the results. That’s not what I searched for, youtube. I typed in a search query because I wanted to see search results, not random unrelated garbage you have placed in my way apparently to either inconvenience me or force me to scroll further for actual results. I despise your wretched little games and every time I see it I can only instantly close the tab as I am overcome with the urge to burn something down.

“I despise your wretched little games” perfectly conveys how I feel about the entire algorithm/attention economy

They also refuse to actually show the parameters you searched for. If you sort by “upload date,” the first few videos might be more recent ones by upload date, but anything past that you’ll find a video that was uploaded five years ago, then five months ago, then three years ago, etc, which—NO! That’s NOT WHAT I ASKED FOR!! PUT THEM IN ORDER!!!

Also sometimes the “people also watched” bullcrap will not only be entirely unrelated, it will also be videos with violent, sometimes outright triggering thumbnails. I’ve gotten some AWFUL unrelated video thumbnails just when searching for video game music videos.

If you use Firefox this extension is god send :D

Fuck it. Post about everyone’s fighting style.

Khalmeer - Khal is a walking tank, thanks partially to his preference for halfplate but also because dragon beastborn’s scales are special in that they exhibit defensive properties against magic. (This isn’t exclusive to dragon beastborn but it is most common with them) Usually wielding some type of two handed weapon into battle he takes on enemies through a mix of swordplay and brute strength. He excels at skirmishes and the 1v1 but too many foes at once can quickly overwhelm him. (Though that’s where his partner comes in to help)

Additional details - Khalmeer knows some combative spells but doesn’t like using them, if an opponent appears to be especially tough or troublesome though he prefers enchanting the weaponry he has.

Vanith - Vanith’s role is very simple and much more focused on support, he takes out opponents from far-mid range with his bow, he doesn’t like engaging in close quarters combat but he keeps a hatchet at the ready along with having training in hand to hand combat. Vanith by himself wants to be as quick as possible, taking enemies out before they can get close to him. Working in tandem with Khalmeer however he perfectly compliments Khalmeer’s more aggressive style, picking off stragglers and reinforcements at every opportunity.

Additional details - Sometimes Vanith’s role as a support is much more literal, a lot of the magic he knows revolves around healing as Khalmeer does sustain wounds despite how tough he may seem.

Lupin - Lupin isn’t as much a fighter as he is reconnaissance but Gregory did show him a few things when they worked together more commonly. With his rapier, quick movements and a bit of dirty fighting he can defend himself long enough to give himself an opportunity to run at least. His skills as a performer aren’t wasted in combat either, he can gracefully dodge the attacks of enemies while sneaking his own in.

Additional details - Lupin is one of the few characters I have that doesn’t know magic, to make up for it though he has a silver tongue and years of life experience that keep him afloat in more chaotic social landscapes.

(I’ll update this some more later! Going to town now to do some shopping!)

Time to finally update this with a few more characters!

Raul - Raul is much more of a tactician, he can be adequate at duels and one on one’s since he was trained in the use of polearms, keeping his foes at a distance while also having a variety of different ways to strike an opponent. His actual combat experience is limited in scope but his quick thinking and wits carry him through most of his encounters.

Additional details - Raul has not led any battles (At least at the time of writing) but his retainers have taught him the art of war, at least on a smaller scale.

Ferin - Unpredictable in his actions, Ferin relies on surprise and sheer brute force in his fighting. Though he can wield daggers and swords his true strength is in his magic arts in which he is incredibly talented, launching high powered spells, slinging fire and lighting with great agility and precision. Magic is a fickle thing however, and Ferin (like anyone else) can and will push himself past his limit when it comes to it’s usage, especially when it comes to the well being of those he cares for.

Additional details - Ferin’s martial abilities aren’t even bad really, it’s just that because magic takes as much of a toll on your stamina as any kind of fighting with a weapon, so wielding both in tandem can be rather difficult and incredibly exhausting.

Gregory - Sticking to the shadows and eliminating people through more underhanded means Gregory is an assassin. He relies heavily on poisons to eliminate those in his sights, usually by coating a blade with it; weakening his opponent before he goes in for the killing blow. His hand to hand combat is excellent and his skill with a dagger (thrown or not) is not to be underestimated. He is not one to fight groups or heavily armored enemies however, he himself can’t take much a beating as he needs to be quick and quiet in his line of work.

Additional details - Gregory is one of the only characters I have that is dual-wielding by default, he usually wields a dagger and a short sword: a parrying dagger to deflect blows and open the opponent up while he goes in with the short sword for finishing blows. (Though he does wield throwing knives, usually used more to injure than actually kill.)

(Will continue this later! This is actually a ton of fun!)
